Do people still buy alienware computers? Too expensive, and you can build your own computer with the same specs or more, for far less. And not to mention that you cant touch your computer otherwise you'd end up breaking your warranty.
What about someone who wants a fast gaming machine but don't want to tinker with it or put one together themselves? Don't forget not everyone wants to do that or has the skills to do it.
local shops will set up your computer quite cheaply.
I understand that, but there's still a simplicity (and trust in some buyers' minds) to walk into a mall showroom and just buy a complete product off the shelf. And to have the Dell brand behind it is also a reassurance for many, I think.

i'm sure by then, they'd already have done the necessary research (or asked their geeky friends, who'd probably advise against an alienware).
oh well, their money, not mine.

[...] Shuffle Magazine interviewed Clune at DCC 2010, and he broke the news that the M11x is indeed throwing out its current Pentium SU4100 1.30GHz and Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.30GHz processor options in favor of the faster Intel chips. That would potentially make the M11x the fastest 11.6-inch notebook you could buy. [...]
