Content creation on iPad with iWork

Tablets as well as netbooks are typically positioned as content-consumption devices. That means you watch movies, listen to music, browse the web, etc. but you don’t edit movies, make music or web pages. Personally I think that argument is often used as an excuse for some of the not so desirable features of netbooks, like the small screen and cramped keyboard.
Clearly the iPad is also meant mainly to consume content and not create it but I’m very happy that Apple decided to make an almost full version of their iWork suite available for the new device.
When I first heard about iWork for iPad I thought it was going to be a crippled version just for viewing documents but it seems I was wrong. Of course I’ve not tried iWork on iPad but from what I can tell from Apple’s keynote and web site it seems you can do quite some document editing with iPad and that I think is great.
To me I’m really only interested in Keynote as most my writing and spreadsheets go into Google Docs online. But I do look forward trying to create and give a presentation with an iPad. Google Docs support in Safari on iPad? That’s a topic for another post once I’ve tried an actual iPad.
