Who will win the tablet war?

It has been widely rumored that Apple will unveil a touchscreen tablet device this month with the rumors even heating up with the word “iSlate”, believed to be what the tablet device will be called.

By the looks of things, it seems that it’s not only Apple whose jumping into the tablet device market. New York Times reports that Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will reveal an HP/Microsoft tablet computer at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week (along with other manufacturers – HTC reportedly has one in the works using Google Chrome as its operating system) and if this is true, all eyes will be on Mr. Ballmer whether Microsoft’s new device can outsmart Apple’s not just in terms of “debut date”.

Microsoft, or other tablet competitors have to remember though, that Apple was not first in the MP3 player market, but came to dominate it.

That said, I imagine Apple’s tablet will be like a bigger, more powerful iPhone and with the popularity of the iPhone, I am sure the Apple will reach its supposed sales target of $10 million for the first year. Apple’s tablet combines the functions of a netbook, the Amazon Kindle, and an e-book reader – an interesting gadget that will capture the attention of the consumers, Apple fan or not.
