Etisalat has finally, without any fanfare, published details about iPhone 3GS plans.
It seems that Etisalat continues on the same line they had with 3G plans, with different up front charges, different monthly rental, minutes, SMS, data, etc.
With a 16GB 3GS on postpaid plans the price upfront ranges from 0 to AED 2,399, “rental” per month from AED 99 to 449 per month, talk time from 125 to 500 minutes, SMS from 125 to 300, and data from 500MB to 2GB.
With a 32GB 3GS on postpaid plans the price upfront ranges from 375 to AED 2,575, “rental” per month from AED 99 to 449 per month, talk time from 125 to 300 minutes, SMS from 125 to 300, and data from 500MB to 2GB.
Update: Customers who bought iPhone 3GS already from Etisalat without plan can NOT get these plans. These plans are only for customers who buy iPhone 3GS from Etisalat from now on. That was just confirmed by Etisalat representative.

Wow. The only thing they changed from last year is the initial cost of the phone.
Other than that, they have stuck to their old plans, they have delayed the launch, they did no marketing buzz at all, and they managed to screw over the early adopters.
Wow.
I bet Du can't do all that.
This is an outrage! Early adopters don't get to avail the plans! Who EVER thought that the etisalat iPhone 3G (earlier this year) was a mess up; ANOTHER MUCH BIGGER AND MAGNIFICENT MESS UP THAT TOPS ALL MESS UPS HAS ARRIVED. Screw over early adopters all you want, etisalat, I'm going snitch to the big fruit here.
That's the problem with being an early adopter.. You just *know* Etisalat aren't going to do the right thing by their customers. They sure made a mess of the launch & have given Du a huge head start, but in fairness to them the plans look attractive – Plan 2 with a low(ish) up front cost only works out 100 dirhams more expensive than buying it outright which is a good deal.

[...] It doesn’t end here! You get AED50 promotional credit that lasts for 30 days every month. This AED50 as per the FAQ given in du website, mentions that it will be counted for the 1GB scheme same time the staff in Du store tells me it is not. Du staff on Twitter tells me what is mentioned in their website is the right one. Really confused because I’ve been hearing complaints regarding this issue. Well it isn’t a big matter because even if the bonus is not counted it is worth it. Besides that looking at the total cost, the iPhone comes to AED2514 (2359 for handset + 55 for sim) for 16GB and AED2904 (2869 + 55) for 32 GB. A similar sort of plan is offered from their Postpaid plan with 1GB plan free every month. For more information head on to http://www.du.ae. [...]
Only allowed for new consumers? That's an epic fail in my book
