iPhone apps for Dubai

I always search the iTunes Store with the keyword ‘Dubai’ hoping that one day I will see an app pop up (I don’t count travel guides!). Much to my surprise, a while back I found two apps (one is a web app) which I would like to share.

The first app is Virgin Radio 104.4 iTunes Link which is developed by Jacobs Media. It is a wonderful but yet simple app. Its main function is listening to the radio via the Internet (3G works!). As a frequent listener to Virgin Radio especially their popular ‘Chris Fade with Chad’ morning show I am sure lots of readers will love this app.

The second, a web app will actually save most of us some money too. I am talking about the iPhone version of UAE Yellow Pages, what you pay AED1 per minute to gain access to via the directory hotline (181). The iPhone version which can be accessed via http://iphone.yellowpages.ae is simply wonderful. I have had no issues what so ever in terms of crashes or bugs and I find it to be more efficient and faster at times than calling ‘181′. I especially love the fact that you can tap a number to dial.

Have you found any localized apps for UAE?

  3. i'd be more interested in seeing real apps being developed locally rather than a random audio stream/website shortcut/RSS feed app
