Podcasting experiment [audio]

mic_interviewWe’ve played with the idea for quite some time to get a podcast going. Something that on a regular basis can bring you news, information, discussions, interviews, debates, and more, about Apple and other tech in the Middle East and beyond. We’re now talking to a company about sponsoring some great, professional-level microphones and stuff and we tried some of it out today.

So in the spirit of sharing what we do here’s our first three-minute attempt from today [MP3 file, 1.3MB], thrown together in Garageband with one of the standard jingles. Don’t judge us too harshly but take it as a very first step toward something bigger and better. We hope to be able to bring you the start of the regular podcast in another week or two.

Once we do kick off for real we want guests for every show to come share their views about various things in tech, teach our listeners how to do something, review products, chat about the latest developments, and much more. If you’d like to be a guest, keep us in mind and we’ll put out an official announcement really soon.

  • Hi Magnus,

Excellent initiative! I thought, being the solo attempt, it was a nice & short ! Looking forward to regular podcasts.

    All the very best, Sumudu
  • I like the idea of the podcasts Magnus :) Certainly adds a different level to the magazine than reading through articles.

It's a great first attempt, and I am sure the guys below gave you a hard time hehehe, but they did give good advice :)
  • Yes I know, all good advice and ideas ;-) You want to be on the first show? Talking iPhone, blogging, or something else...

    It's generally very good.
    Just 2 points:
    - the jingle's volume needs to be normalized with the talk itself.
    - I think 30 minutes might be better than 1 hour. That's a lot of time, which will be taxing for both the producers and the listeners.
  • Yes, it all has to be normalized... as I said this was just a rough test ;-) That's not the actual jingle we'll use as well.

30 min might be better, we'll see. I think most people would be surprised though how fast even 1 hour disappears when you talk to a few people about some interesting things.

nice attempt, i like it :)
just two quick notes, the music at the beginning, the mp3 started with boom!! my volume was loud I would prefer if the music fades in.
Crystal, nice to hear you in the cyber world :), can you please spell the app or website you are talking about. I still cant find it!!

waiting for the full show ;-)
  • I forgot... once you're back in UAE, you'll have to come over and we'll talk iPhone development for a spot on the show :-)

i will be back for one week only. Hope to see you guys, i really missed many events till now :(
  • Yes, we've got a lot to learn, that's for sure. This was just thrown together in a hurry, without script or anything, editing is very unpolished.

For her game, search for "skee ball" and I think you'll find it.
