Brief update… Du PR people found me and I have been dealing with my issues. One of their Senior Radio Optimization Engineers actually came out to my apartment building and took measurements all over the place, took notes and promised that the problem will be solved… Lets see what happens… I will make a follow-up post once its all said and done.

Oh Alex this is terrible! One of my fears of getting a Du line as well… but they admit they have reception issues. Etisalat on the other hand says they cover even out there in the open sea, but apparently not in my ground floor apartment of a 3 story building in Motor City!

Sorry to see you disappointed. Maybe you ned to give Du some time. I took Du and I find it pretty good. And yes before I took the connection I was well aware that I will face some coverage problem though nothing like what you are facing. Untill now I haven't faced any major problem with Du except for poor customer call center.

Sorry to hear of your experience so far Alex. Hope it gets better from here on.

I've bought a temp Du number just to test it out in all the places I frequent. Slow data I can survive with but poor call reception is just not acceptable in today's world. So far though, the experience seems to be pretty decent.

If it helps, I got a buddy of mine living in JLT on the 10th floor. Up there, his Etisalat refuses to work. No signal, no dime, nada. Du on the other hand works flawlessly with excellent call quality. Same thing at work in Dubai Silicon Oasis – no Etislat signal at his desk but Du works A-OK!

Sorry to hear about your experience Alexander. Perhaps we move in different places but I must say I've not had as bad an experience with Du at all. Sure, there have been places where I've not had any reception or very poor data speeds but the reverse has also been true, that there have been places where Etisalat reception has been poor and Du has been good.
