iPhone copy-paste reporting?

Yes, I know we can go on and on about this and it’ll not change but… here we are again with an example of a press release passed of as “news”. This time it’s yesterday’s press release from Etisalat about iPhone 3.0 software now being available to their customers. There’s also a piece in today’s Business 24-7, by “staff”, which I cannot find on their web site. Naushad K. Cherrayil is the writer of this piece for Gulf News.

The most striking feature for the UAE customers is the inclusion of Arabic language support. Moreover, search capabilities will be expanded, allowing customers to search within Mail, iPod and Notes or search across all key apps by typing a key word or phrase into the new Spotlight search, conveniently accessed from the home screen. Customers will also be able to play peer-to-peer games for iPhone and iPod touch by using Bluetooth. The most striking feature for the UAE customers is the inclusion of Arabic language support. To Naushad’s credit he has added some unique content in the form of a couple of quotes from “Irfan Ellam, vice president, equity research, Al Mal Capitral” (not my typo!). Who he is or what qualifies him to speak on the matter is not clear, however, and a Google search doesn’t reveal anything either.
