Du In Talks With Apple Over iPhone

It comes as no surprise to anyone, I think, to hear that Du has been and is in touch with Apple over making the iPhone available on their network. Especially since the TRA (Telecommunications Regulatory Authority) has previously been adamant that they will not allow the iPhone in the UAE unless it’s available to both operators – Etisalat and Du.
Today Tom Gara reports in The National that Du CEO, Osman Sultan, said yesterday at the launch of the “Elite Plan”, that Du “remained in talks with Apple to bring the iPhone to its network” and that “the talks are ongoing”.
Also today Nadia Saleem reports in the Gulf News that Du “hopes to offer the iPhone to its customers very soon” according to the Du CEO. Sultan continues, “”We are in discussion with Apple. We cannot reveal much at this time”.
Nothing really new in these statements, at least not from what we all thought was the case, but I guess since it’s now publicly stated, there’s a chance it’s getting closer to being a done deal.
