Review: New iPods

classic

The iPod classic is that trusty old friend you feel comfortable with, and that doesn’t let you down. But the Nano and Touch are cool and hip and amaze you daily. There is little new to say about the iPod classic. Mainly Apple trimmed the model selection so that now there’s only one model with 120GB disk. Apple also made the click wheel’s surface a bit rougher, making it easier to operate. The other news can be found in the software update, which brings the Genius automated play list creation to the Classic. If you need storage space for movies, music, or files, this is still a great iPod – but the model is starting to show its age and probably will not be with us for much longer.

ايبود كلاسيك الجديد هو الصديق الوفي القديم الذي تشعر معة بالراحة و الذي لم يخذلك ابداً. النانو و التاتش جيدين و قادرين علي اضفاء الامتاع علي يومك الا ان هناك شيء جديد بخصوص الايبود كلاسيك و هو ان ابل خفضت الاختيارات بحيث لم يصبح هناك الا طراز ١٢٠ ميجابايت. عدلت ابل سطح الضاغط المستدير ليصبح اكثر سهولة في الاستخدام، الشيء الجديد الاخر هو تحديث البرامج اذ انها تحوي الان خاصية جينيس لتكوين الاغاني اتوماتيكياً. اذا كنت تحتاج الي الي مساحة لتخزين الافلام و الموسيقي و الملفات فهذا هو الايبود الصحيح الا ان الجهاز بدأ يبدو قديماً و اظنة لن يبقي معنا فترة طويلة.

nano

In a strange turn of events the 4th generation iPod nano has actually gone back to what the 2nd generation looked like; with an elongated, rectangular face. It has an oval shaped, thin profile, making this an incredibly small and light iPod. The display seems to be the same 320×240 pixel display from the previous generation, but its form factor demands it be placed in a portrait direction. This means to watch video you turn the Nano on its side. With the built-in accelerometer, which senses how you turn and move the iPod nano, you can shake the Nano from side to side to shuffle songs in a play list. Another addition is that you can record voice memos with a compatible external microphone, such as Apple’s new headset. Through the new iPod software it supports the Genius automatic playlist generator. To sum up, the new Nano which is available in models of 8GB and 16GB is a very nice upgrade, sporting a great new slim shape and new functionality.

في تغير مثير لمجري الاحداث تغير شكل الجيل الرابع من ايبود نانو ليصبح شكل الجيل الاول بواجهة طويلة و مربعة. شكلة البيضاوي النحيف يجعل منة ايبود غاية في الصغر و الخفة. الشاشة تبدو و انها كما الجيل السابق ٣٢٠/٢٤٠ ميجابكسل الا انها تحتاج الي ان تصبح بوضعية عرضية في بعض الاوقات مما يعني مشاهدتك لافلام الفيديو والجهاز في الوضع العرضي . الجهاز بة اكسلروميتر يستشعر تحريكك للايبود نانو حيث يمكنك تحريك النانو من جنب الي اخر لتغير الاغاني الموجودة في القائمة. هناك اضافة و هي انك تستطيع تسجيل ملحوظات صوتية عن طريق ميكروفون خارجي مثل سماعات ابل الجديدة. البرامج الجديدة للايبود تفعل خاصية عرض جينيس اوتوماتيكياً. ايجازاً النانو الجديد متوفر في طرازين ٨ و ١٦ جيجابايت و قد تم تطويرة جيداً سواء بشكلة النحيف او اضافة وظائف جديدة.

touch

The 2nd generation iPod touch has three main new things to its credit: speaker, physical volume control, and the new iPod software. Although a welcome addition, the speaker is only really usable for gaming as the sound is too weak and thin for movies or music. With a rounder, beveled back the new iPod touch is more pleasant to hold and operate than the previous model, and the volume control on the side is almost worth an upgrade just on its own. Battery life doesn’t seem to have increased any; you still run out of juice very fast, especially with Wi-Fi turned on. Most of the other news, like with the two other new iPod models, lies in the iPod software upgrade. Things like the Genius automatic play list generator and complete Nike+iPod integration are great additions. If you want more storage space the new Touch offers models with 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB. To give a final verdict, if you have a 1st generation iPod touch there is frankly little reason to spend money on upgrading. But if this is your first iPod touch, it’s a great iPod combined with most of the benefits of the iPhone.

الجيل الثاني من ايبود تاتش بة ثلاث مزايا تضاف الي رصيدة، مكبر الصوت، التحكم في الصوت و البرامج الجديدة، بالرغم من ان التحديث جيد الا ان مكبر الصوت يكون حقاً مفيداً في الالعاب فقط اذ ان صوتة ضعيف لمشاهدة الافلام و سماع الموسيقي. الظهر المنحني للايبود تاتش يجعل حملة و تشغيلة ايسر من الموديل السابق، اما اضافة ميزة التحكم قي الصوت فهي اكثر من ممتازة. عمر البطارية لم يصبة اي تغيير اذ انها تنضب بشكل سريع خاصية اذا ما تركت خاصية واي فاي في وضع التشغيل. الاضافات الاخري كما هو الحال في الطرازات الاخري من الايبود تكمن في تحديث البرامج مثل خاصية قوائم جينيس الاوتوماتيكية و خاصية نيك+ايبود. اما فيما يتعلق بالسعة التخزينية فان ايبود تاتش يقدم ثلاث طرازات ٨ و ١٦ و ٣٢ جيجابايت. ايجازاً اذا كان لديك ايبود الجيل الاول فان الدافع للتغيير و انفاق المزيد من المال بسيط جداً اما اذا ما كان اول ايبود تاتش لك فانة عظيم و يحمل كثير من مزايا الايفون.
