Apple Working Hard At Being Environmentally Friendly

It might be that Greenpeace isn’t exactly happy with Apple over their use of materials, packaging, etc. But Apple themselves claims that the new MacBook (aluminium) is very environmentally friendly and they also stress the packaging in that, being able to squeeze more MacBooks into one plane thereby using less fuel per computer.

But it’s not just their computers that get this treatment, iPods have for a long time been arriving in smaller and smaller packages. Most recently I noticed the iPhone Bluetooth Headset packaging shrinking a lot as well. The one we bought in January 2008 is in a very much larger package than the one from November 2008.

This is of course good news for Apple, using up less packaging material and less transportation costs too. Whether that’s a saving that is passed on to us customers, I don’t know, but if it helps the environment I think I can be happy even if it doesn’t.

  • I think Apple is really trying hard, but unfortunately the guys at Greenpeace do not agree.
