Many people say that the tech world is a man’s world, but there are penalty of girls that would make you think different. It is hard to think of a women that has changed the tech world or the Mac world, but if we look I am sure we can find a few. When we go to Mac World Expo, I will be looking for the women of the Apple World, and if you have any ideas whom you would like to hear from at Mac World, please let me know. Also I can not help but think that there are women here in the Middle East that is helping to change the Apple world here.

That said if you look at the top officers at Apple you will not find a woman, and as a women I have to ask why? There is one women, Andrea Jung , that sits on the board for Apple as of January 2008. Jung, is the first woman that has ever sat on the Board. She has an impressive resume that includes the Chairman of the Board and CEO for Avon, previously the Executive Vice President of Neiman Marcus, sits on the board of General Electric (GE) since 1998, just to name a few things. But what does she really bring to Apple other than being a woman and knowing maybe how to sell to women? I do think this is the step in the right direction for Apple and I hope to see more women take the rains at the top of Apple. You can also find more information about Jung at Apple.com. So I will do my part in my posts to find those women that are making us proud in the Apple and tech world

good point, well, “IF” im a woman i would never wish to work under Steve Jobs!!
Why gurlz dont do well in IT? well, i think the main reason is “under pressure” work. When applying for any IT job, they are always so much concerned if u r a team player, and how u manage under pressure.
Talking about myself, and the company i work for, its very usual to stay late (very late) at night to deliver the product. When working with gurlz they stay until some hour say 10 pm and then they are done. Guyz can stay programming until 4 am!!!
putting all this aside, many women have done great work in IT. Just a few quick “do u know”:
1- the inventor of laser printer is a woman.
2- the founder of the famous Cisco company is a woman, and she named it Cisco as part of her city name (San Francisco)
3- the team that developed the first graphical user interface (GUI) at Xerox was lead by a woman
women did and still doing great work in IT field
Hello Medopal,
You make some good points, and I would have to think hard about working under Steve Jobs, myself. I do not think it matters if you are a guy or a girl, you would be under a lot of pressure, to come up with the next great thing.
Also it is different with girls in that in many ways we are expected to balance work and family life, in ways that guys do not have to. So, girls just might be better at managing pressure. I do think that if girls want to be taken serious in the tech world, we have to work a lot hard than many guys in the tech world.
That said I do look forward to meeting some Geeky Girls at Macworld and here. As you stated there are some really cool things that Geeky Girls have done in the tech world.
