Cross-Platform Voice And Video Chat With GMail.com

November 12, 2008 by Magnus Nystedt

Google has released a new voice and video chat as a plugin for Gmail.com. It’s a free download and it does work on Macs with Apple’s iSight cameras. We tried it between two MacBooks and all you do is click on the person you want to chat with in the list of contacts in your GMail account online and select to do voice or video conference. That’s about it. Let’s see how this works in comparison to iChat for example, which we know a lot of people are having problems with.

The problem i have is, where is the icon to start video located? In my igoggle page under chat icon there is no video start to be found?

Under settings window everything works fine

Has anybody else had this problem

Douglas, if you click on a contact of yours in Gmail.com, usually a list on the left, you can start a chat with them, then in the window that appears you can click and select video.
