Apple Recalls iPhone 3G Ultracompact Adapters

Apple has announced a voluntary recall of th ultracompact USB power adapters that come with iPhone 3G. Apple says they have “determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock.” The adapters concerned were supplied with every iPhone 3G sold in US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, and Several Latin American countries. It may also have been sold as an accessory.

Although the iPhone is not sold here yet we know that some of you have iPhone 3Gs from these countries so we’re trying to find out from Arab Business Machine, Apple’s Value Added Distributor for the Middle East, what the situation is here.

Update: The comment from ABM is, as usual, that they don’t provide any iPhone support in the region. Apple Inc., ABM, or whoever is responsible, there are thousands and thousands of iPhone users here and many of them have problems. Many of them have the affected power adapter so get your act together and start helping the customers who are so loyal to you and spend so much money on your products.
